충청남도 홍성에서 태어난 김연인은 대학생 때 민주화 운동을 하다 구속되어 재학 중이던 대학에서 제적당했다.
그 이후로 ‘힘’ 이라는 출판사를 내어 계속해서 운동을 펼친다.
1983년 집회 및 시위에 관한 법률 위반 징역 1년 6월, 1989년 국가보안법 위반 징역 1년, 1990년 국가보안법 위반 징역 10월,
1994년 국가보안법 위반 징역 1년. 그 후 2003년 민주화 운동 관련자 인정 서류가 집으로 날아오게 된다.
2019년 그의 아들은 경찰이 되고, 미묘하게 혼란스러운 상황이 벌어진다.
이몽(異夢)이라고 읽는 이 이야기는 집으로 민주화 운동 유공자 인정 서류가 날아왔던 여덟 살의 날부터,
엄마에게 민주가 뭐냐고 물었던 날로부터, 서류에 보상금이라는 이름으로 찍혀있던 공 일곱 개를 본 그날부터 시작된다.
어떤 집단의 권력이 개인에게 순기능으로 작동하지 않았다는, 그런 판타지 속에 살아왔던 사람에 대해.
이야기를 읽어내는 방법이 없어 꿈만 같은 세상을 허우적대는 그의 딸이. 또 그의 아들이.

Yeon-In Kim who was born in the southern part of Korea was under arrest since he was in charge of the democracy movement when he was an undergraduate, which resulted in his being expelled from his university. After that, he founded a publishing company to continue the democratic movement. In 1983, he served 1 year and 6 months in prison against the law on assembly and demonstration. Afterwards served a total of 2 years and 10 months against the law on national security throughout 1989-1994. Ironically, in 2019 his son becomes an officer of the law for the Korean police, and a subtly confusing situation occurs.
This story begins from the day when I was 7 years old reading a letter with the title written ‘Document of your contribution in democratization’ and when I asked my mother about what democratization means. Furthermore, it begins in company with my memory of the day when I saw 7 zeros in the document written as compensation from the government.
This story revolves around one society that did not work properly for individuals, and the person who was dwelling in 'A fantasy'.
You are seeing the fantasy stage where he has not fled from the past and he does not have to flee from them. He is just standing where he should be. He revisits some place where he was arrested and tortured but with a majestic face. Imong means having a different dream and purpose in Korean. The society he lived in was odd enough yet it does not mean that they have a right to destroy your nest. Violence and oppression do not have power anymore and he proves that with his existence.
